Last night my parents had a Christmas party/concert with their friend Christopher Wright. Remember last year's house concert? It was the same idea and just as much fun. In fact, it was more fun because Andy was able to come this year and I wasn't in horrible pain due to a UC flare. So, yeah, it was lots more fun! My cousin and her friend babysat (thanks girls! and thanks Mom for "hiring" them!) which freed us up to enjoy the music while the kids had their own party down the basement. I went down a few times to see if Maddie wanted to come up and sing some Christmas carols with us but she was having way too much fun with Hannah and Catherine and basically ignored me. And Avonlea had to be pried from Catherine's arms at the end of the night. It was a late night and the girls were wired when we finally left at 11:30ish. But, we had to get home because today we had another fun family event. Watch for that in the next post!
Here are some pictures. The quality is pretty poor between fiddling with my new lens (I always have a bit of a learning curve with a new one), the low light and my parents decor. Their decor is lovely. It's a very warm and coppery space which is cozy and pretty. However, it makes pictures, particularly in low light, very tricky for me because on top of trying to accommodate the incandescent light at night, I'm also trying to adjust for all the reflecting warm tones and it seems I always fail and end up with orangey pictures. And given my mom's (justifiable) resistance to the (cold and sterile light of) eco-friendly lightbulbs, I think I'll need to be content with the orangey pictures, give in and use my flash or keep fiddling with the settings...
There were about a million holiday treats.
Blurry, underexposed and poorly composed, but still so cute!
I included this because for all the times that "white kitty" or "meow" is with Avvie, I don't have a lot of pictures of her holding it.
Chris's daughter, Lauren, came and sang, too. She has such a pretty voice.
