Hello Christmas Season

The day after Thanksgiving we dove into Christmas activities.  We actually dove into Christmas activities last week when we hosted the Advent Pizza Party for the kids at church, but I won't post any pictures since I don't want to put all the parents on the spot about whether they're cool with having their kids pictures on the web.  I do think everyone would be fine with me saying that fun was had by all and hopefully we're all a little more excited about preparing our hearts to celebrate Christ's birth. But, back to yesterday and our Christmasy festivities.  We headed to the Christmas tree farm of a friend which was lovely and made even lovelier by the mild and bright weather.  We ended up getting two trees, a full and squat one for our den and a tall and Charlie Brown-esque one for our living room.  Photos of decorated trees to come in a future post.

This sunset picture is the view from our kitchen.  A couple blocks in that direction is the river so one of these days I really need to set aside my usual dinner preparation tasks and head down to the river to take some pictures.  That particular evening I didn't have any dinner preparation to do because my aunt, uncle and cousins were bringing over pizza.  After a fun dinner we all headed over to another aunt, uncle and cousins' home to see their annual light show.  My cousin Ben creates the show every year complete with lights, music and a radio station.  Afterwards they have us all in for drinks and dessert.  It's a fun family tradition that has developed over the last few years.  (Here are some other years that we went-2010 and 2009.)

Avonlea was saying "CHEESE"!  I love that face! (And I love when I get a picture with my girls since I'm usually taking the pictures.)
