I'm trying to decide if I've been too busy to blog much because we're still settling into our new home or if we've entered a new phase of life that has us on the go a lot more. In the evenings I seem to have a lot less time to go through pictures and draft posts because I'm busy sewing Halloween costumes, wrapping presents for birthday parties, ironing and laying out clothes for my little schoolgirl and sorting through yet to be unpacked boxes. (Lest it sound like all I do is run the lives of a toddler and little girl, I also have been excited to dig into some new bible studies at our new church, something that I sorely missed the last couple years. And on a completely different note, Andy and I have also been spending time working our way through Arrested Development and jumping back into Lost to finish it.)
But, I love when I can go back and read old posts so I want to keep up with the blog. Would you like to hear about some of the posts I need to cram in this week before the Halloween picture rush? There is a end of summer post with miscellaneous pictures from the end of September, a Rutgers football game, pictures from the day we closed on our house and a little picture tour, a luncheon with my Aunt Rosemarie, a visit from Kim and various fall themed pictures. (And one of these days I'll blog about selling our house in Haddonfield and how excited we are to have Andy settled into a new job post-fellowship and to be living closer to family.)
I'm going to blog out of order and start with Kim's visit. She was here this weekend and was, in fact, our first overnight guest. We had hoped to have a little getaway together this fall, but when we started talking about it I had no idea we'd already be moving into a new house. Since I was a bit too overwhelmed to leave town, she graciously agreed to visit us instead. As always, it was a wonderful time! We've sort of fallen into a pattern for when we visit each other--eat out somewhere fun, cook a new (or newish) recipe, long walks, long talks, and staying up visiting until we nod off on couches. The girls adore Kim and she's so lovely to them so it's just as much a treat for them as it is for me.
I wanted to do lots of autumnal activities, including pumpkin and apple picking. Unfortunately when we showed up at the orchard they weren't picking apples even though the website said they still were. (And they opened up an hour later than the website stated so we had to kill some time in the parking lot.) They did have pumpkins, but rather than being in a patch they appear to have been taken from a distant patch and left in a dusty lot. Hmmm, not exactly the experience I was envisioning, but the girls still enjoyed it and we got a few pumpkins. And since I got to spend time with Andy, our girls and Kim, I still consider it a success! (But I still think they should update that website better...)
I have lots of other pictures from Kim's visit, but I'll save them for another post. (Plus, I'm bound to have more pictures from this outing once I swipe some of Kim's!)
