Donna came for a visit in September. The girls were thrilled to see her after spending the last month talking about their time with her in England. (Maddie did most of the talking with Avonlea interjecting a lot of "Nonna! Nonna!") We had lots of fun and hit up some of our favorite summer activities including the sprayground, boardwalk and Atlantic Farm to visit the animals. It was Labor Day weekend and a great way to mark the end of summer.
Avvie was okay with it at first, but ended up hating it. She used to be braver on rides, but has now found fear.
In the past Maddie has been too nervous to do rides by herself, but suddenly she found confidence. She went on a few without us and would have done more if we'd had time. She was rather proud of herself!
Maddie has had a recent interest in my camera so in hopes that it'll keep her from trying to use it by herself when I'm not looking, I let her take supervised pictures sometimes. Granted my face is not framed so well, but I love that she captured Avonlea's hand on my shoulder. I have some others she took of me from August...I've got to remember to go back to those pictures because they are of her wearing a dress that was mine when I was a little girl and I want to post some side by side pictures of us. Remind me if I don't do it soon!
Tomorrow (or the next time I can find a few minutes to sit uninterrupted and have already crossed daily devotions and emailing off my list, things I've woefully neglected of late) I will blog about our visit to some WWII planes.
